CHAPTER 3: Life in the Eastern Hemisphere
We studied how the earliest Americans came to the West and how they lived, but what was happening in the east at this time? In this chapter, we will be studying how Europeans first made contact with Ancient China and the technologies and resources they gained from there. We will also look at the major West African Empires of Ghana, Mali, and Songhai, and European exploration into other countries.

UNIT 2: Connections Across Continents
In Chapters 4 and 5, we will look in depth at how Europe's empire-building came to the Western Hemisphere. European powers including Portugal, Spain, France, Britain, and Holland established colonies in the Americas to increase their wealth and gain religious freedoms.
UNIT 3: Colonial Life in North America
In a span of about 200 years, the population of the Americas grew rapidly. Just as quickly, European monarchs also increased in their greed for American riches and land. As a result, those European nations went to war for control of American lands. In this unit, we will learn to identify which American regions were controlled by which European powers, and see what life was like for colonists before the American revolution.
CHAPTER 8: The American Revolution
As British colonists in American grew in population, many felt wronged that Britain neither gave them a voice in government nor allowed them to trade with foreign nations. Americans were especially aggravated by the taxes Britain levied on them. Eventually, they got fed up...it was time for war.
In this chapter, we will look at the root causes of the American Revolution and the many things that fueled the American thirst for independence.
